Most understand their mortality rate multiplies the longer they keep smoking. *Smoking carries a 57% higher mortality risk rate than other unhealthy lifestyle patterns, including excessive alcohol, poor diet, inactivity. **Multiple studies indicate nicotine may be as addictive as heroin, cocaine, or alcohol.
